NVIDIA Expected to End Support for Several Graphics Card Series Soon

It has been reported that with the upcoming NVIDIA 580 driver update, a number of older graphics card series will no longer receive performance and security updates after that.

This will affect three generations of graphics cards, from the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 700 and GeForce GTX 900 series of graphics cards that use Maxwell graphics chips, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1000 series that uses Pascal graphics chips, and the NVIDIA Titan V series that focuses on consumers despite using the more widespread Volta chips through the Tesla and Quadro graphics cards.

Reports have said that when the 580 series driver update is released, it will be the last update that these graphics cards will receive. After that, these graphics cards will no longer receive any updates. This is shown in the Unix software update log, but it is expected that the same will be true for Microsoft Windows operating systems as well.

The latest official NVIDIA driver version is 576.80, so users of these graphics cards still have time to upgrade their graphics cards if they wish. NVIDIA has not yet confirmed when they will introduce the 580 software update at this time.
