Google and Apple are both developing smart glasses with artificial intelligence (AI). Meta was the first to launch its Ray-Ban Meta and based on sales figures shared by EssilorLuxottica, their choice was a smart one.
EssilorLuxottica reported that Ray-Ban Meta sales increased threefold in H1 2025 compared to H1 2024. It is seen as the beginning of the era of wearable computers. This month, Oakley Meta HSTN was launched with a better camera, more durable and designed for extreme sports activities.
At the same time, Meta is currently preparing to launch Meta Celeste, which has a screen built into glass and integrates some of the features tested with Meta Orion. The response to Ray-Ban Meta sales led Meta to invest $3.5 billion to acquire a 3% stake in EssilorLuxottica earlier this month.
