Sony is yet to sell the Xperia 1 VII in Malaysia at this time. The Xperia 1 VII is Sony's flagship phone for this year, but uses an external manufacturing service. Since its introduction, several sellers have reported problems with the device, including the device turning off on its own, and some saying it cannot be turned on again.
Following this, Sony has suspended sales in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and several other countries. Its launch for the Malaysian market is also still unknown at this time.
In the UK, Sony has announced a replacement program for the Xperia 1 VII.
Sharing about it, Sony said that they found that the production process caused a problem involving the circuit board for a small number of Xperia 1 VII phones. This led to power supply problems on the device, and caused related problems.
In parallel, Sony has started a replacement program for the affected devices, and will start in the UK starting July 21, 2025. With this development, we may see this device being widely marketed again in about a month or two.
