Sony Xperia 1 VII Sales Suspended In Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan have been suspended over the weekend following several issues reported by early buyers. The suspension was announced by Sony through their website after the device turned off on its own, reset itself and in more serious cases could not be turned on even when the power button was pressed.
The suspension of sales was done to allow the device's software to be updated to a new version that resolves all three of the above issues. At the same time, the Xperia 1 VII event with the Malaysian media on July 12 has also been postponed by Sony Malaysia. At the time of writing, we are getting an official statement from Sony on whether sales will continue or not.
The Sony Xperia 1 VII is the first device in the Xperia 1 series that Sony does not manufacture in-house. This comes after Sony's factories in Chonburi and Bangkady in Thailand and Wuxi in China no longer listed smartphones as manufactured products. This has been done since mid-May and indicates that the Xperia 1 VII is their first phone manufactured by an OEM.
