Microsoft introduced the Windows 11 operating system around the fourth quarter of 2021, and its usage was not seen as high because people were already familiar with the Windows 10 operating system, and did not see a reason why they should switch to a newer operating system, especially when users needed to upgrade their computers.
Statcounter recently updated their Microsoft Windows operating system user graph website, and showed that this month, the percentage of Windows 11 operating system users has overtaken the number of Windows 10 users globally for the first time since Windows 11 was introduced.
At the beginning of July 2025, it was seen that the number of Windows 11 operating system users globally was at 51.77 percent compared to Windows 10 at 45.02 percent.
The change to Windows 11 is seen to increase sharply because more security support and new features are shown in Windows 11 and not Windows 10. Another reason is that Microsoft will end official support for this operating system on October 14, 2025.
According to figures also shown by Statcounter, it is reported that Windows 11 devices have exceeded 700 million devices. With the end of support for the Windows 10 operating system expected to arrive on October 14, it is expected that the percentage of users who will upgrade their computers to Windows 11 is expected to increase sharply by that month.
