1 Utama shopping mall this week activated the parking payment feature using the number plate recognition (LPR) system for ONECARD cardholders. To use the feature, open the 1 Utama SuperApp application and a notification will appear to activate the feature.
Select to agree to use the LPR system and enter your registration number and vehicle type. Each ONECARD customer is allowed to register only two vehicles per account.
Once activated, ONECARD can no longer be used to pay for parking using the touch sensors at the entrance and exit of 1 Utama. Instead, the payment will be deducted from the customer’s 1Pay account, which can be topped up through the same application.
The feature is only available to ONECARD customers at this time, but 1 Utama management said the system will be opened to non-customers in the future. 1 Utama is the 13th largest shopping mall in the world. It has received criticism for only supporting the paper parking card system and ONECARD, while other shopping malls already support debit, credit and Touch N’ Go cards.
