Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today presented the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan, which touched upon a number of opportunities and targets in the artificial intelligence arena. The PM continued to emphasize that Malaysia has set a clear direction in leading the artificial intelligence arena in the Southeast Asian region.
The application of local technological innovations will be given priority, in promoting economic growth, especially in strategic digital assets such as artificial intelligence, government digital systems and data analytics. The government will also focus on further promoting the production of “Made in Malaysia” products and services.
In parallel, the National AI Action Plan will be implemented, and drive growth including local talent. Digital infrastructure will also continue to be improved in creating more new economic opportunities and attracting investors to Malaysia.
The artificial intelligence ecosystem will also be improved through strengthening digital trust, which will focus on protecting personal data, and addressing cyber threats. Initiatives such as the National Data Bank as an integrated national database will be implemented, in addition to the establishment of a Data Commission.
The government will also undertake various initiatives to continue to increase the rate of digital literacy and artificial intelligence - at various age levels.
