When talking about Acer, the first thing that comes to mind is the high-powered Predator laptop and a high-refresh rate monitor. Now the Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box has been launched, marking Acer's entry into the Android TV box market.
The Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box is equipped with an Amlogic S905X5 chip (4x Cortex-A510 CPU, GPU Mali-G310 GPU), 2GB RAM and I/O options of HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, LAN, S/PDIF and microSD card slots. The I/O options are very diverse compared to most other TV boxes on the market. It also supports displays up to 4K resolution.
The remote control also has quick shortcut buttons for YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube Music and watching linear TV. The rest of the configuration is the same as the Google Chromecast with Google TV remote control, which is made of plastic.
At this time, the Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box is only sold in South Africa with pre-orders open but the price has not been announced.
