The race to develop the most advanced AI technology is heating up, with tech companies now seen “copying” and using competitors’ technology to build their own.
And that’s what’s reportedly happening, with OpenAI reportedly using Anthropic’s Claude AI model to evaluate ChatGPT’s capabilities, and also using its AI programming technology to help build the next ChatGPT model, ChatGPT 5.0.
Technically, Claude’s terms and conditions state that individuals or companies using the AI technology are building technology that will compete with it. Because of this, Anthropic is expected to block OpenAI developers from accessing or using Claude’s self-programming technology API to develop future versions of ChatGPT.
OpenAI also issued a statement saying that using these “tools” to develop newer technology is common in the industry, but understands that it’s still something that’s already been defined in Claude’s terms of use.
However, Anthropic will still allow access to Claude for the purpose of testing performance and seeing the capabilities of the ChatGPT model when compared to Claude.
