In the current smartphone market, the design and camera capabilities are among the aspects that are often given attention by users. Vivo V60 is presented as a new model that features a combination of modern design and camera system with a focus on the photographic experience. This first look focuses on the design and camera aspects only since information related to other features cannot yet be fully revealed.
Device Design
The Berry Purple color was introduced as one of the main options to provide a device identity that is constantly fresh and slightly romantic. The purple tone used is not too bright but tends to a softer shade of red. This color choice is seen to help highlight the overall design of the device while bringing an elegant touch inspired by berries. The smooth matte finish also plays a role in reflecting light in a way that makes the color appear more vibrant without excessive shine.
In addition to Berry Purple, vivo V60 is also offered in two other color options, namely Summer Blue and Mist Gray. Based on promotional images, Summer Blue features a soft combination of blue and pink that produces a soothing tone. Mist Gray brings a minimalist approach with a classic gray color. All three options reflect vivo's efforts to offer variations that suit the style and taste of today's consumers.
The device design maintains a neat and comfortable shape with a smooth back finish with a soft sheen depending on the angle of light. This surface tends to trap fingerprints but is not too noticeable except when exposed to direct light.
Device Camera Settings
The camera module is arranged in a balanced manner, in accordance with the standard size of the device. It is reminiscent of the arrangement on the previous X200 FE model with two main sensors in a vertical bump and another sensor outside the bump next to the ring-shaped LED Flash (Aura Light).
Compared to the vivo V50 which used a round and more prominent camera module, the camera module on the V60 looks neater and flatter. This approach makes the rear design of the device look more organized and modern.
The vivo V60 camera system consists of a 50MP front camera. Meanwhile, the rear houses three main cameras supported by ZEISS with a 50MP Sony IMX766 (OIS) setup, a 50MP Sony IMX882 (OIS) telephoto with support for up to 100x zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide for wide-angle shots.
This is an improvement over the vivo V50 which came with a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera supported by ZEISS. However, one notable shortcoming of the V50 is the absence of a telephoto camera which limits the ability to shoot long-distance shots and portraits with deeper backgrounds. With the addition of a telephoto lens on the vivo V60, users have more freedom to shoot subjects from various distances and angles.
In initial use, the zoom mode on the vivo V60 showed a smooth transition between 1x and 10x levels. The resulting images still retain clear details in most situations. In addition to the telephoto capability, the vivo V60 also offers the ability to take more diverse portrait shots through the ZEISS Multifocal Portrait feature. Focal length support such as 23mm, 85mm and 100mm allows users to shoot portrait photos with different angles and distances depending on the subject.
The stage recording feature known as Stage Style is also provided as an additional option for users who like to shoot subjects from a distance, especially at concerts. It allows recording to be done with high clarity even from the back seat thanks to the help of algorithms that enhance facial details and skin tones for more natural results.
Initial View
The Vivo V60 features changes in design and a more modern camera system. The Berry Purple color provides a stylish touch with the approach that vivo has used through the Ancora Red color on the V50 model. In terms of function, the telephoto and portrait cameras provide additional freedom for users who like to shoot from various angles.
Based on initial experience, this device is suitable for users who prioritize a balance between appearance and photography capabilities without neglecting practical aspects in daily use. More information about the display performance, battery, and internal software features of the device will be shared in the next review article.
