There are around 7159 languages spoken in the world and it is impossible for us to understand them all. Subtitles are usually used to understand foreign language content but some are too lazy to read. Meta AI Translations was launched this morning with the ability to automatically dub videos on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta AI Translations can currently only translate English to Spanish and Spanish to English. It is accessible to Facebook users with 1000 followers and all Instagram users now.
When a video is uploaded, there is an option to change the voice using Meta AI. This feature needs to be activated manually with the option to also move the lips in the video in line with the new language audio generated by AI. After the translation is done, users can check it first before publishing it.
Meta AI Translations supports dubbing up to two individuals in one video. For optimal dubbing, users are encouraged not to speak over each other, ensure that the background audio is not noisy and always look at the camera to ensure that the lips can be synchronized with the new audio.
