MIT and Harvard Computer Science Students Drop Out Over Job Fears Due to AGI

Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard are two prestigious higher education institutions that only hire the smartest individuals. However, computer science students at both universities are starting to drop out of their studies due to concerns about job opportunities due to the increasing use of artificial general intelligence (AGI).

According to Forbes and the New York Times, the unemployment rate for computer science students in the United States is now 7.5%. This is twice as high as that of biology and art history graduates. One student who graduated this year said he only received one interview call, and that was from a fast food restaurant. His job application was rejected due to lack of experience and too high academic qualifications.

The future of receiving a high six-figure salary in the coveted world of software development is now dark because of AI. This issue has begun to haunt computer science students with some changing their major to AI development and data science to give themselves a chance to not become grape growers in the future.

This situation has begun to be seen in the United States and raises questions. What about the situation in higher education institutions in Malaysia? It is likely that sempocara will become the next career path with fewer and fewer permanent jobs being offered.
