When talking about the digitization of government services, it can be said that Malaysians feel that they have to download 101 apps to access government services if they do not want to go to government service centers such as UTC to do it physically.
Therefore, the government, through the Ministry of Digital Malaysia, has started developing the MyGOV one-stop government services app since the middle of last year, and is now introducing it in the open beta testing phase.
This app is developed by the Ministry of Digital with their own development team, and is expected to feature integration from other digital apps and services in the future.
For now, when you download and log in to this app using the MyDigital ID login system, some examples of the features that will be introduced can be shown on the homepage, such as digital identity, including details for identity cards, driving licenses, motor vehicle licenses, passports and OKU cards, if any.
Apart from that, the option to view details of summonses and compounds has also been added, the function of paying taxes directly through the application (coming soon) and government Health Clinic appointments can also be displayed.
If you are a recipient of financial assistance from the government, the amount you received will also be displayed on this application to make it easier for you to see the balance of the assistance.
The features mentioned above can technically already be displayed on existing government applications such as MyJPJ, MyTax, MySejahtera. And this is what the Digital Ministry is trying to highlight, where these services can be coordinated in a one-stop application using a single login point.
Fabian Bigar, Secretary-General of the Digital Ministry said that the introduction and launch of the MyGOV application, currently in the beta phase, is not only to test the application's ability to house a number of government digital functions but also to get input from Malaysians on its user experience.
He said that during this beta testing phase, the MyGOV app will be updated with various other features such as applying for new identity cards and passports, paying JPJ and traffic police summonses, the ability to pay income tax and assessments, and others, including the implementation of an AI chatbot.
However, the introduction of this app will not affect the need for existing government apps. For example, although the MyGOV app can display details on driving licenses and car ownership licenses, the MyJPJ app is still required as a replacement for the user's physical license for now.
No final date has been announced yet as to when the app will exit the beta phase, but from what we were told by the app development team, their focus is on ensuring that MyGOV is usable by the public before discussions for an "official" public launch of the app are held.
The MyGOV app is currently available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and logging in requires using the MyDigital ID login service.
According to Fabian Bigar, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim will introduce this application to the public during the Negeri Sembilan People's MADANI Program event which will be held in Nilai town this Saturday, 23 August 2025.
