NVIDIA Developing B30A AI Chip Specifically for China

NVIDIA is developing a new B30A artificial intelligence (AI) chip specifically for the Chinese market, according to a Reuters report. The B30A is a chip with the Blackwell architecture and is more powerful than the H20 currently allowed for sale in China.

It is believed that the B30A is based on the B300 chip with performance halved to meet US requirements that prevent the latest AI chips from being sold in China. NVIDIA has not finalized the final specifications of the B30A but they are preparing to deliver early samples to potential customers in China starting next month.

Just a few months ago NVIDIA was not granted a license to sell the H20 to customers in China due to trade tensions with the US. But after NVIDIA and AMD agreed to give the US a 15% cut of Chinese market chip sales, President Trump is ready to give some flexibility.
