NVIDIA Jetson Thor Launched as the Brain of Robots and Self-Driving Vehicles

NVIDIA Jetson Thor was launched late last night as a supercomputer that functions as the brain for humanoid robots. It replaces Jetson Orin. which was launched four years ago.

It uses Blackwell GPUs that make it 7.5 times more powerful in artificial intelligence (AI) processing and 3.1 times faster CPU than the previous generation Jetson.

This higher power, according to NVIDIA, allows humanoid robots to operate and think faster in real time while providing the ability to operate independently. Among the early customers of Jetson Thor are Amazon, Meta, Caterpillar and Agility Robotics. It is also used by Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Zurich in robot development.

Also announced is NVIDIA Drive AGX Thor, a kit with the same components but for the development of self-driving vehicles.
