In December last year, Vivo teased the launch of its mixed reality (MR) headset as a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro. Almost a year has passed and the Vivo Vision design has finally been shown to a handful of visitors to the Boao Forum for Asia. The headset's design is very similar to the Vision Pro with a glass screen on the outside and the same headband on the back.
It also uses a battery pack that is attached magnetically to the side of the headset to reduce weight. According to Chinese media reports, the Vivo Vision weighs the same as the AirPods Max at around 380 grams, which is lighter than the Vision Pro at 650 grams. Like the Vision Pro, it has a face pad and a minimalist metal finish.
The Vivo Vision has no screen on the outside but can be seen with four cameras on the front and two more cameras on the bottom to track hand movements. The Vivo headset can detect hand and finger gestures and therefore does not require special physical controllers.
Vivo said the headset is still being tested by staff with a launch likely to take place by the end of 2025.
