Garmin Introduces Fēnix 8 Pro With MicroLED Panel

Garmin attracted attention with the launch of its latest smartwatch fēnix 8 Pro. This model comes with a micro LED panel, and is among the first to use the technology. The display offers high brightness, thus producing brighter content.

However, the micro LED version is only available for the 51 mm model. According to Garmin, this display can reach a brightness of up to 4,500 nits, which is brighter than the OLED displays commonly used on other smartwatches.

The use of micro LED affects battery life. If the Always-on-Display (AOD) function is activated, the battery only lasts about four days. Alternatively, Garmin offers a version with an AMOLED display that is more battery-efficient. This version can be used for up to 15 days in smartwatch mode.

The Fenix 8 Pro is equipped with an LTE modem that allows users to make calls and send messages via the Garmin Messenger application. It also supports satellite emergency functions through an InReach subscription, which is suitable for use in areas without network. Unlike the previous model, this watch no longer includes solar charging support.

Also complementing it is a 1.4-inch touchscreen (454 x 454 pixels), 32GB of memory and 10ATM water resistance. It also offers various health features such as monitoring heart rate, breathing, pressure, body energy, sleep, meditation and women's health.

The version with an AMOLED display (47mm) is sold at a starting price of $1,199.99 (~RM RM5,067) while the 51mm model is priced at $1,299.99 (~RM RM5,491).
