Lenovo has finally introduced one of the most anticipated mobile PC consoles, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 during the Lenovo Innovation World event held in Berlin. The console retains a number of the design features shown on the first model, but also features a number of new updates that make this console better than before.
Starting with the screen display, Lenovo maintains the 8.8-inch display size and their large 1920×1200 resolution, and this time upgraded the console’s display to a Lenovo PureSight OLED touch panel, compared to the IPS LCD compared to before. The 144Hz refresh rate has also been maintained with this display.
In terms of internal components, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is now powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor chip built using AMD ZEN 5 cores, and comes with the same number of cores and threads compared to the previous Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
In addition to the latest AMD chip, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 also comes with a 32GB LPDDR5X memory option, and a PCIe 4.0 SSD storage option of up to 2TB. The console's battery size has also been upgraded, and now comes with a 74Wh battery, compared to 49.2Wh on the previous model.
The Legion TrueStrike controller has also been updated. It still comes with a detachable design, but this time the button and analog stick arrangement has been modified to make it more comfortable, while the analog stick has been replaced with Hall Effect components, which promises that stick drift issues will not occur even when used aggressively.
The Legion Coldfront cooling system has also been updated to accommodate a larger fan that allows it to circulate air in and out more efficiently.
In terms of plugs, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 comes with two USB 4 plugs (on the top and bottom) that can be used to charge and also connect the console to the screen display, a MicroSD slot for adding storage and a fingerprint scanner on the console's power button, which supports Windows Hello login technology.
Lenovo says that the Legion Go 2 console will be launched at the end of this month, in select markets such as Europe and the United States. Our expectation is that sales for the Malaysian market will also follow shortly after. The selling price for the base model is set at 999 Euros, but at this time Lenovo has not confirmed what specifications will arrive for this model.
