Another issue will hit Meta because they were found to produce chatbots that resemble famous celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez without permission, according to a Reuters report. The chatbots that use the faces of these celebrities were generated by Meta users as well as by the social media company's own employees.
In tests conducted by Reuters, the chatbots had an "irritating" personality with users. After being contacted by Reuters, Meta immediately deleted all chatbots that could cause them to be sued by the celebrities who were affected. Scarlett Johansson previously sent a lawsuit to OpenAI after her voice was used by ChatGPT Voice Mode without permission so that it resembled the character Samantha in the science fiction film Her she played.
None of these celebrities signed agreements allowing Meta to use their likeness and voice in the chatbot. Among the celebrities who borrowed their voices previously were MrBeast, Snoop Dogg, Israel Adesanya, Paris Hilton and Kendall Jenner. This feature was later terminated after only being given to users in the United States.
Last week was a challenging week for OpenAI. Meta Superintelligence Labs was reorganized less than two months after its formation, with staff leaving the company and a hiring freeze. They also began using Midjourney's improved models rather than their own.
