Sad news for fans of the Nova Launcher launcher as its development has been halted. Its founder, Kevin Barry, announced that he had left the company Branch that owns Nova Launcher and was no longer involved with the project.
Nova Launcher was sold to Branch in 2022 but in 2024 over 100 employees were laid off. This left Barry as the only person left to develop Nova Launcher. The last time the application was updated was in May of last year.
With his departure from Branch, development of Nova Launcher is now halted with immediate effect. However, Barry said that he will offer Nova Launcher as open source so that others can continue development in the future.
