Qualcomm is collaborating with BMW to develop the Snapdragon Ride Pilot self-driving system with Level 2+ capabilities on highways and in cities. Snapdragon Ride Pilot uses the Snapdragon Ride processor chip and self-driving software developed by the two companies over three years.
The first vehicle with Snapdragon Ride Pilot is the BMW iX3, which was launched today. It is the first Neue Klasse vehicle to receive certification for use in more than 60 countries, with a target of expanding to more than 100 countries by 2026.
The system features 360-degree scene awareness with cameras that can detect objects, lanes, understand road signs, park assist, monitor the driver and even map. The cameras and radar also have lower latency to improve performance in active safety scenarios.
In addition, Snapdragon Ride Pilot maintains a commitment to Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) and Functional Safety (FuSa) standards that support compliance with the latest safety regulations, including NCAP, FMVSS 127 and DCAS.
