With the launch of the Snapdragon X2 Elite and Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme chips a while ago, Qualcomm has shown off several PC concepts that use them. In addition to laptops and tablets, two prototypes in the demo room caught our attention because they are not only small in size but also thin.
One prototype is round in shape and is as thick as a cake plate or serving dish in a restaurant. The Snapdragon logo on top is illuminated and is actually the power button to turn on this PC. On the side is a SIM tray, several USB-C ports, a DC power port, a 3.5mm audio jack and ventilation holes are placed around the bottom. Based on observations, this plate-shaped PC prototype is as thick as a smartphone.
The second prototype is rectangular in shape and is slightly thicker than the first prototype. This model is inserted into a dock under a monitor, making it an AIO PC. On the sides are the SIM tray, several USB-C ports, a power port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and ventilation holes for the cooling system.
All the compact PCs shown at the Snapdragon Summit are just suggestions for manufacturers. Last year, the Snapdragon Dev Kit was announced after the Snapdragon X Elite was launched, but a desktop computer with the same design was not launched. Perhaps in the second year we will finally see desktop PCs with Snapdragon chips widely marketed.
