Total Lunar Eclipse Phenomenon Expected to Occur on September 7-8

The Total Lunar Eclipse phenomenon known as Blood Moon is expected to occur on the night of September 7 to the early morning of September 8, 2025.

This eclipse will begin with the penumbral phase at 11.28 pm where the Earth's shadow begins to cover the surface of the moon. It is then followed by the partial phase which begins at 12.26 am when part of the moon begins to appear dark.

The full phase is expected to begin at 1.30 am and reach its peak around 2.11 am. After that, the full phase will end at 2.53 am followed by the end of the partial phase at 3.56 am. The total eclipse is expected to end completely at 4.55 am.

This phenomenon occurs a few days before the moon is at its closest position to the earth which is around 364,773 kilometers. During the full phase, the moon may appear red or orange. This color is produced when sunlight is refracted by the Earth's atmosphere, creating an effect known as the Blood Moon.

This eclipse is expected to be visible from various parts of the world such as Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In Malaysia, the total phase can be seen with the naked eye or telescope depending on current weather conditions.
