Starting with the specifications of this ASUS ExpertBook P5 laptop, it is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 258V processor chip which also comes with 32GB of built-in LPDDR5X memory, and also 512GB of SSD storage which can be upgraded either by changing the original storage or adding additional storage if needed.
It also comes with a 14-inch IPS screen display with a resolution of 2560×1600 and a brightness value of 400 nits, which is bright enough for various types of content that you may want to watch and see on this screen.
This laptop is also loaded with a three-cell 63Whr battery which promises a laptop life of more than 10 hours on a full charge.
In terms of construction, the frame of this laptop is made of aluminum and comes with a weight of around 1.27kg and this makes it not only a compact and powerful laptop, but also very light.
For plug options, the ASUS ExpertBook P5 comes with two Thunderbolt 4 plugs, two USB 3.2 Type-A plugs, one HDMI 2.1 plug and one 3.5mm audio plug. But more than that, the uniqueness of this laptop comes through the ability of users to upgrade the SSD storage components and also change the battery easily if needed.
On the bottom of this laptop's chassis there are six Philips head screws that can be easily opened, and the storage components and battery can be easily accessed. This laptop also houses two SSD storage slots, one with a longer M.2 2280 size and one shorter M.2 2230 SSD slot.
If you're asking why the memory components cannot be replaced like on this laptop, it's because the Intel Core Ultra 200V (Intel Lunar Lake) processing chip used already comes with memory built directly into the CPU component and cannot be upgraded.
User Experience
If you have read our reviews of other Intel Lunar Lake-powered laptops, such as the ASUS ZenBook S 14, Acer Swift 14 AI and Honor MagicBook Art 14, I can say that in terms of computing performance, the ASUS ExpertBook P5 is on par with those laptops.
With the power of the Intel Lunar Lake processor, users will have no issues in performing office productivity tasks no matter where they are. Combined with the MIL-STD 810H certification, this laptop also comes with the same rugged capabilities as the ASUS ExpertBook PM3 laptop we reviewed earlier.
This laptop also comes with built-in artificial intelligence productivity software, namely ASUS AI ExpertMeet, which enhances the quality of your teleconferencing sessions with features such as noise cancellation on the microphone and speakers, subtitle translation and so on.
There is another software built into this laptop, namely MyASUS, which houses all the driver software updates and others. This makes it easy for users to update all the necessary software because MyAsus will automatically check if there are any new updates that need to be downloaded.
In fact, I would say that the overall performance of this laptop is similar to what is seen on the ASUS ZenBook S 14 laptop, only with a slightly lower battery capacity, because this laptop is loaded with a 63WHr battery, but still maintains this longer battery life.
The display quality is quite good when viewed directly from the front, but the IPS panel used shows a slight lack when viewed from the side or top. Meanwhile, as a productivity class laptop, I would at least expect there to be an SD or MicroSD card reader built into this laptop.
The video and audio quality of this laptop is also in my opinion bright and loud enough and does not require the brightness and volume settings to be set to maximum levels to enjoy your favorite content.
And if you want to upgrade the internal storage or change the battery, you only need a Philips head screwdriver to open it, and to access the necessary internal compartments.
