First Look at the Vivo X300 Series – A Stronger Flagship Device

The Vivo X300 series has been launched to the public for the Chinese market. It can be said that the Vivo X series is a flagship device that gives very close competition to its competitors, but for the X300 series, Vivo is no longer continuing the Pro Mini model like the previous model. This time, only the X300 and X300 Pro models were launched with some quite interesting improvements in terms of hardware and software.

Design and Screen

Although there is no Pro Mini model this time, the vivo X300 uses a smaller size than the previous model, which is 6.31". The body design looks the same as last year's Pro Mini model with a boxy concept that makes the grip in the hand feel very good with aluminum and glass construction. What caught my attention was that vivo managed to significantly reduce the size of the camera bump on the X300.

For the X300 Pro, it still maintains the same size as before, which is 6.78", but what is interesting is that it no longer uses a curved design and changes to a boxy design. The weight for the X300 Pro also feels more balanced compared to the previous X200 Pro which was heavy on the camera module. Both models also have good durability with IP68/69 support.

The screen for both X300 models has the same specifications other than just the size. It uses an 8T LTPO panel that can achieve refresh rates as low as 1 Hz to 120 Hz. The brightness level can reach up to 4500nits and can go as low as 1nits in addition to using a 1.5K resolution. The bezel on this screen has also become thinner to provide a more immersive experience. There is support for PWM Dimming 2160Hz and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Based on initial use, the screen on the vivo X300 series has already reached the peak level without any issues.

Hardware and Software

The vivo X300 series is powered by Mediatek's latest chip, the Dimension 9500, and is combined with a chip developed by vivo itself, the V3+, to help in terms of photography capabilities. As far as initial use goes, this chip feels very, very fast and can provide good peak performance. This chip is said to have very high power, capable of reaching up to 4.1 million for scores on the AnTuTU benchmark. For further experiments, stay tuned for the rest of the review in the future.

The software used on the vivo X300 series is the latest from vivo, OriginOS 6, with a new design and very interesting animations. There are several interesting features such as Flip Cards themes, a changeable clock on the lock screen and a smarter Origin Island to make it easier for users to do a job. The combination of the Dimensity 9500 chip with OriginOS 6 provides an excellent user experience.

Camera

Of course, full focus is given to the camera section on the vivo X300 series. On the X300 Pro, it uses a 50MP ZEISS Gimbal-Grade main lens with a 1/1.28” Sony LYT-828 sensor size. The aperture opening is also quite wide at f/1.57. The telephoto lens is a 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto using an HPB sensor developed through a collaboration between vivo and Samsung. The ultra-wide lens is a 50MP ZEISS as a complement.

The X300 also uses a 200MP ZEISS main lens with a 1/1.4” HPB sensor with an aperture opening of f/1.68. The telephoto lens uses a 50MP ZEISS APO Telephoto using a Sony LYT-602 sensor. The 50MP ZEISS Ultra-wide and selfie lens is the same as the X300 Pro. The ZEISS T* coating is also still maintained to overcome the problem of excessive flare.

Vivo also places importance on video performance on the X300 Pro where it is capable of recording up to 4K120FPS Dolby Vision as well as recording in 10-Bit Log mode at the same resolution. The X300 is also capable of recording in the same resolution for video in Pro mode. Both models also have the ability to record Dual-View Stage Video to record beautiful moments without missing your own reactions.

Battery and Charging

The battery capacity loaded on the X300 is 6040mAh BlueVolt which is quite surprising in this small body and this capacity is larger than the previous Pro Mini model. For the X300 Pro, it is 6510mAh which is also larger than the previous X200 Pro in the same size. In terms of charging, both models are capable of charging up to 90W FlashCharge and have 40W FlashCharge wireless charging. It's a shame there is no Qi2 support on the X300 series this time.

Conclusion

In conclusion for this first look, the vivo X300 series can compete well with upcoming flagship devices especially in its camera capabilities which are getting better than the previous model. Furthermore, it already uses the latest OriginOS 6 which is more intuitive with various interesting features for users. Look forward to the arrival of the vivo X300 series to the Malaysian market in the near future.
