The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has confirmed the increase in the petrol subsidy quota under the BUDI95 initiative to 600 litres per month for full-time taxi drivers compared to the original quota of 300 litres. This was announced through an official statement posted on the MoF Facebook page yesterday (13/10/25) as part of the enhancement of the targeted subsidy programme.
The increase in quota is intended to support the daily operational needs of taxi drivers who rely on RON95 petrol to generate income. Based on a joint review with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), more than 53,900 individuals are eligible to benefit from this ceiling increase. In addition, MoF also announced the extension of the BUDI95 programme to registered private boat users in Sarawak.
The BUDI95 programme, which was launched at the end of September 2025, has enabled those who are eligible to purchase RON95 petrol at a subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre. The basic quota of 300 litres per month is still maintained for regular recipients while full-time ride-hailing drivers receive an additional quota to cover longer travel distances.
