Grab, the technology company known for its ride-hailing and delivery services, today introduced Partner Apps, a feature that supports the development of third-party services that can be accessed directly from within the Grab app.
Grab is expanding the number and type of services available to users, while enabling businesses to reach Grab’s 46 million monthly transaction users in the Southeast Asia region. Users will have more services to choose from every day through a seamlessly integrated app and payment experience.
With Partner Apps, other digital services can use the Grab app as a platform to make it easier for people to quickly access their services without having to download additional apps.
Grab says that Partner Apps have been introduced in Malaysia and Singapore with the following app partners:
Firsty – A telecommunications provider that offers global eSIM with instant data abroad. With Firsty’s eSIM, travelers can stay connected without changing SIM cards, switching to a local plan or roaming data. eSIMs can be purchased through Grab for use in over 180 countries, including Grab’s markets across Southeast Asia. New Firsty users who purchase eSIMs through Grab will receive 100 percent cashback until the end of the year.
HelloRide – A bike-sharing provider that offers bike rentals. HelloRide enables seamless and eco-friendly urban mobility. New users can enjoy special rates and discounts if they book through Grab until the end of the year.
Jolibox – An entertainment platform that offers games and short dramas, which users can enjoy through the Grab app at home or on the go. Users who access Jolibox content through Grab will be rewarded with bonus coins for completed games and selected free dramas every week until the end of the year.
redBus – A bus ticketing platform that offers intercity bus and ferry travel with over 200 operators in and between Singapore and Malaysia. Users will have more ways to book trips in addition to Grab’s ride-hailing service and will receive a 20 percent discount when booking redBus through Grab until the end of the year.
Drive lah – A peer-to-peer car-sharing platform available in Singapore that allows users to book and unlock nearby cars instantly using their phones.
What’s more, Grab users don’t need to register for any new accounts to use the service that leverages the Partner Apps feature. Grab will use your existing account to directly register you to use the service.
The Partner Apps functionality will be introduced in phases starting today, and the public, including service developers and users, will be able to take advantage of it later.
