OpenAI has announced a partnership with Broadcom, where the two parties will develop OpenAI's first proprietary artificial intelligence chip. OpenAI will design the chip, while Broadcom will develop the chip.
The chip is expected to be deployed in the second half of 2026. The two parties will produce and deploy 10 gigawatts of chips, thus further completing OpenAI's computing infrastructure needs. The partnership is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2029.
Previously, OpenAI has also announced partnerships with AMD and NVIDIA for infrastructure and computing power to meet the needs of increasing demand day by day. Developing its own chip also reduces dependence on external parties, while also making it easier for OpenAI to control its development needs.
