In conjunction with the launch of the Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro series of devices in Beijing, China today, Realme and Ricoh Imaging have finally announced an official collaboration between the two companies to power the Realme GT 8 Pro device camera with imaging technology showcased on the Ricoh GR camera series.
This collaboration has been developed over four years and is considered one of the most comprehensive in mobile imaging, especially street photography. According to Realme Vice President, Chase Xu, it was sparked by the desire of today's young users who want more natural images. They also prefer to show their own unique style rather than produce photos that look the same as everyone else.
According to Kazunobu Saiki, General Manager of RICOH IMAGING, both brands are targeting young creative users and intend to take the culture of street photography to a better level.
The main camera of the GT 8 Pro comes with a brand new transparent lens group developed together with RICOH IMAGING. The smartphone lens follows the optical standards of the RICOH GR series of cameras and has good anti-glare performance, beautiful image quality at high resolution and low distortion. This ensures that every shot taken with the Realme GT 8 Pro camera is clear and authentic.
The Realme GT 8 Pro camera interface also comes with a design that resembles what is shown on a Ricoh GR camera. A swipe on the main camera interface opens a menu that resembles what is shown on the camera, and gives users access to the camera settings needed to take the desired photo quickly and easily.
The collaboration with RICOH IMAGING does not stop there. The Realme GT 8 Pro also features several other functions such as Snap Mode that allows users to set the focus distance accurately and quickly, including framing at 28mm and 40mm focal lengths that are often used for street photography.
If you want the experience of composing a frame like looking through a physical viewfinder, Viewfinder Mode allows you to take photos without the hassle of setting the interface on your screen.
The Realme GT 8 Pro camera also comes with five exclusive RICOH GR classic filters — Standard, Positive Film, Negative Film, Monotone and B&W High Contrast — generated from hundreds of lighting scenarios and color tests, integrating RICOH’s nearly 30 years of imaging expertise into one device.
The use of watermarks in captured images is also commonplace, and the Realme GT 8 Pro also comes with Ricoh GR watermarks for sharing captured image details, as well as a dedicated folder for users to store these images on their device.
Completing the experience of using a Ricoh GR camera on the Realme GT 8 Pro is the same shutter click sound as a RICOH GR IV.
More details about the Realme GT 8 Pro will be revealed later this month. The camera specifications are also yet to be confirmed, but a number of details about it have recently leaked, including the use of a 200MP camera sensor on the main camera.
