1 Billion PCs Still Running Windows 10

Microsoft ended support for the new version of Windows 10 last month. Owners who haven't migrated to Windows 11 are being given an additional year of support if the PC is using a Windows account. This week Dell released its financial report and its COO Jeffrey Clarke said there are still 1 billion PCs still running Windows 10.

Of this number, 500 million are PCs that can be updated to Windows 11 but owners are reluctant to do so and the remaining 500 million PCs are PCs that don't meet the minimum specifications to run Microsoft's latest operating system.

Dell sees this as an opportunity for the company to market its latest AI PCs but warns that the PC market is expected to flatten next year. Recently, the cost factor has become increasingly hotly debated. The price of SSD storage and RAM has risen as demand for memory chips soars due to the surge in demand for AI data centers.
