Google launched a Private AI Compute service that allows users to access Gemini models in the cloud to process personal data with privacy as a priority. Private AI Compute is designed to balance performance and privacy.
Private AI Compute will allow AI models to use cloud processing power without giving Google access to personal data. With this, even AI processing in the cloud will meet the security and privacy requirements as if it were done directly on the device.
Among the issues regarding the use of AI models is that customers are concerned that private conversations, emails, and sensitive company data are used for AI training. In the early stages of AI use, there were several incidents of company secrets being leaked after employees used ChatGPT. Private AI Compute allows more complex and high-power processing to be accessed in the cloud without compromising the privacy of personal data.
Private AI Compute will be introduced in several Google services such as Magic Cue on Pixel 10 and the Recorder app. Transcripts and audio summaries of conversations will be processed in the cloud without being accessed by Google.
