Kanto Pokemon Theme Park Imposes Physical Fitness Requirements on Visitors

Kanto Poképark will open next year, making it the world's first Pokemon theme park. The chosen location is Tama Hills near Tokyo and Kanagawa. But before buying tickets, management announced that visitors must ensure they meet the minimum physical fitness requirements set.

Visitors must ensure they are fit enough to climb the 110 steps and children under the age of five are also barred from entering the Pokémon Forest area. Pokemon Forest has a 500-meter long, hilly path.

This relaxation will not be granted even if visitors have a guardian because it is carried out for safety reasons. At Pokemon Forest, more than 600 species of Pokemon can be seen by visitors as they really live in their real habitat and they can "hunt" them like in the animated series.

But visitors need not be completely disappointed because the Sedge Town area, which houses attractions such as a stadium, gymnasium, restaurant and rideable Pikachu, is still open because it does not require heavy physical activity.

Poképark Kanto will open in the fall of 2026 (around October) with ticket pre-orders open to Japanese residents from November 21 to December 8. They can express interest in purchasing tickets with a lottery system used to select who qualifies to be the earliest visitors.
