There are many technology companies now trying to rebrand themselves as AI companies. The best example is CoreWeave, which started as a crypto company and now offers AI data centers to customers. Nokia, a brand that is very synonymous with telecommunications and mobile phones, will now split off its artificial intelligence (AI) business.
Nokia will be separated into a network infrastructure business that offers AI services and data centers while the telecom network operations business will become a mobile infrastructure unit. Through this restructuring, Nokia predicts that operating profit will increase to EUR 3.2 billion by 2028.
The use of AI will be introduced in the 6G infrastructure that is being developed. The integration of AI into the telecommunications world is needed to support more AI devices that require high data transmission. Last month, NVIDIA invested $1 billion in Nokia to develop a 6G AI network.
In addition, Nokia Defense was also launched, offering Nokia's network and easy-to-use technology to offer military-grade services. The European Union (EU) is doubling down on efforts to ban Chinese-made equipment, especially Huawei and ZTE, in member countries due to security reasons. The void left by these two telecommunications giants will be filled by European telecommunications companies.
