NVIDIA Reportedly Won't Supply Memory Components to Graphics Card Makers Anymore

The process of developing a graphics card is usually not that complicated. Companies like NVIDIA will supply components that will usually consist of graphics chips and memory, the two most important components needed to build a graphics card. Other components such as circuit boards and VRM chips are usually easily available to component development companies, and will be designed by them themselves.

Recently, there have been reports and rumors that NVIDIA will no longer supply VRAM memory components to computer component developers due to the currently skyrocketing prices of memory chips.

It seems that NVIDIA is also not safe from the increase in memory chip prices, because previously they required the use of GDDR memory that they selected themselves and sold together to ensure the best graphics processing performance. Technically, this also makes the task of many component development brands easier because they can focus on the design and optimization of graphics card performance.

The issue here is for lesser-known graphics card companies, as they previously had no need to buy their own GDDR memory. Now, if the rumors that NVIDIA is no longer supplying GDDR memory components are true, it seems impossible for smaller companies to buy the components as they are usually ignored by memory manufacturers.

If this continues, it wouldn't be surprising to see more graphics card brands disappear like EVGA when they decided to stop making graphics cards.
