US Reportedly Will Block Sales of NVIDIA B30A Chips to China

The United States is reportedly set to officially block sales of the NVIDIA B30A chip to China. According to Reuters, citing internal government sources, the White House has instructed several agencies not to approve export licenses for this artificial intelligence (AI) chip to China.

The NVIDIA B30A is a chip developed specifically for the Chinese market with reduced capabilities compared to the NVIDIA B300 chip. Earlier this week, Trump was quoted as saying that chips under the NVIDIA Blackwell family should be sold only to domestic companies to ensure that the advantage of AI development remains in the hands of the United States.

China has predicted that the Trump administration will block sales of the chips and has ordered local companies to stop buying NVIDIA chips for the past few months. As a result, NVIDIA chip sales in China have now fallen to zero, while last year they held 90% of the market.

Yesterday, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said that China will win the AI war with the United States because the Chinese government provides energy subsidies and lacks control. It is not known whether the order to block the sale issued by the White House was due to the statement made by Huang. At the time of writing, NVDIA shares fell nearly 4% with a market value of around $4.5 trillion (compared to $5 trillion last week) due to the published report.
