X, formerly known as Twitter, has now begun introducing messaging support called Chat, which is directly integrated into X. This feature will replace the previous DM or Messages support on the social platform.
Chat offers more comprehensive messaging support, including full encryption support, file sharing capabilities, support for blocking screen recording, and is said to be free of ads and trackers.
Elon Musk previously stated that Chat will be offered as a standalone application, allowing it to compete with messaging applications such as WhatsApp and Signal.
Chat has been gradually introduced via the web and also the iOS application. An update for Android will be offered in the near future. Voice message support is also expected to follow in a future update.
