The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) together with the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) are now recommending local users to update their web browsers to the latest version, and also update their mobile device operating systems to the latest version as an initial step to protect themselves from internet fraud.
The updates offered by providers are said to offer protection against cyber attacks, while also strengthening against malware and other threats.
In addition, it was also reminded that banks will introduce verification measures to protect users from malware, and at the same time implement several additional measures to protect users from cyber attacks.
In a move to make it easier for users to use the latest operating system on mobile devices, several banks will collaborate with device manufacturers, subsequently offering discounted prices or special packages for device upgrades.
