Edits App Updated with ‘Templates’ and ‘Storyboards’ Features

The Edits app has been improved with a variety of new features to make it more fun to use.

This time, it receives the Templates feature that allows users to produce videos using templates with fixed music, text styles, and clip layouts that are synchronized to the audio beat. Users can also publish their own templates for others to use.

Next, the Storyboards feature allows ideas to be converted into more organized layouts for future videos. This feature also supports teleprompter cues, video clip slots, and notes fields to help creators plan content before recording.

Users can also include Reels from their Instagram library, whether their own or others. These clips can be used for remixes, reactions, or new edits with the original creator automatically credited.

In addition, the Secondary Color tab allows users to add a second color to the background or text outline for more visual control. For iPhone users, there's support for Edits widgets on the lockscreen for quick access to the camera or creating notes that can be saved directly in Edits.

Instagram said template support in Edits is rolling out this week, with more template types planned in the future. However, the dedicated templates section is only available in select countries.
