Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has just announced that the passenger information processing system used by airports around the world is currently experiencing a problem where check-in counters are unusable.
MAHB has issued a statement saying that Kuala Lumpur International Airport is one of the airports affected by the issue, and airport staff were seen assisting flight customers to check-in and send their luggage to the plane.
The issue is seen plaguing check-in counters for all outbound flights not only from KLIA, but also a large number of other global airports, where they are experiencing the same issue.
At KLIA airport, MAHB said that self-check-in kiosks are still operational, and flight customers can print their own flight tickets and baggage tags, and will be assisted by airport staff for other processes.
It is currently unknown what caused the issue with the flight information processing system, and when it will be restored to normal.
