In conjunction with the school holidays at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, Maxis has introduced an event to explore the history of Kuala Lumpur called Explore With Maxis, which is an urban exploration program held in collaboration with Think City.
Explore With Maxis is an interactive bus tour of heritage, stories, and hidden locations in Old Kuala Lumpur, namely areas that have been restored under Warisan KL, a national-level cultural restoration effort through sightseeing bus tours.
This program is held exclusively for Maxis pre- and postpaid customers and will take place on 20-21 December 2025 and 3-4 January 2026. Maxis users can register their interest through the Maxis app to choose the date and time that suits them best, and they will visit five locations around Kuala Lumpur, starting from the Maxis Tower/Petronas Twin Towers.
These locations include Dataran Merdeka Heritage Area, Masjid Jamek Observation Deck, Warung Old China, Else Retreat and Merdeka 118 Tower. An open-deck sightseeing bus will take you to these locations, where Maxis customers can stroll around while learning more about the history of the city known as Kuala Lumpur since the early 1900s.
In addition to the tour guide who will tell you about the history of Kuala Lumpur's development, Maxis has also provided earphone accessories with smart features that will also give you a little context behind several locations that the bus will pass through around Kuala Lumpur city.
In the meantime, each location during this event will also come with a QR code that can be scanned via the Maxis application, especially the AI assistant Miya feature for which you will receive a special gift at the end of this tour session.
In the meantime, Miya can also answer various questions not only about Maxis services, but also about locations around Kuala Lumpur via text chat.
Maxis says that bookings for the Explore With Maxis tour event are already open and almost fully booked. It is currently unknown if Maxis will add new sessions.
