Meta today announced that it has acquired a company focused on developing wearables powered by artificial intelligence, namely Limitless. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. Meta says that this acquisition will further accelerate its work in developing wearables powered by artificial intelligence.
Limitless previously produced a pendant-shaped device that can be worn on a chain or on a shirt, and it can record conversations and generate summaries related to a given conversation.
Limitless says that existing customers can continue to use the device, and there will be no further subscriptions going forward.
For Meta itself, it is seen that they will continue to come up with various variations of wearable devices under their belt. Currently, Meta is working with a glasses manufacturer to produce smart glasses that integrate Meta AI support. In addition to Meta, various companies are also looking at similar offerings – which are seen as replacing the use of current smartphones.
