Mozilla this week appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will lead the company's development for the next phase. The new CEO of Mozilla is Anthony Enzor-DeMeo, previously a manager at Firefox.
Under this new leadership, he plans to continue to expand the ecosystem products under Firefox and Mozilla with various features powered by artificial intelligence. This will indirectly allow Mozilla to look at generating new revenue, and not rely solely on licensing search engines.
Today, Google offers around 95% of Mozilla's revenue, by being the main search engine on Firefox. The transition to the new CEO also comes at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly popular, with various companies now coming up with their own web browser offerings, and a shift from using search engines to query engines. This change is also expected to have a long-term impact on Mozilla, and the new CEO will need to look at various other arenas to ensure the survival of their company.
