MyDigital ID today announced that all telecommunications companies will begin integrating MyDigital ID identity verification technology on their respective mobile applications starting tomorrow. This is expected to better protect users and prevent any identity impersonation and fraud.
This step will also make all new prepaid SIM cards purchased need to be verified using MyDigital ID, on the respective telecommunications company's applications. This use will prevent the misuse of someone else's identity in the registration of prepaid SIM cards.
Previously, several telecommunications companies were fined for misuse of identity during the registration of prepaid SIM cards. The integration of MyDigital ID is expected to begin to overcome this problem. Not only that, users are also expected to be able to check all prepaid numbers registered under their MyKad number, and confirm whether the number belongs to them or not.
