NVIDIA Reportedly Reducing Gaming Graphics Card Production by Up to 40% Due to Memory Chip Shortage

It's no secret that the selling prices of smartphones, tablets and computers will increase next year due to a shortage of memory chips due to demand from the artificial intelligence (AI) data center sector. Today, a report has emerged that NVIDIA will reduce gaming graphics card production by between 30-40% in 2026 due to the same memory issue.

According to a PCGamer report, this is according to information from the Board Channels forum in China. Production has been reduced by up to 40% from 2025 production. This is another troubling news, previously reported that NVIDIA is not selling graphics cards with memory components to their GPU customers.

Since becoming a major force in AI chip supply, NVIDIA has managed to become the most valuable company in the world and at the same time the GPU business for gaming is no longer the company's focus. It only contributed 8.7% of NVIDIA's revenue last year.

The reduction in gaming graphics card production will not have an impact on the company's profits and this will provide an opportunity for AMD and Intel to attract the attention of gamers to use their products. In Q32025, NVIDIA held 92% of the global gaming graphics card market.
