Last week, we reported that Samsung has begun mass-producing 24Gb capacity, 28Gbps speed GDDR7 memory, with 32Gbps and 36Gbps memory to follow.
Recently, at the Korea Tech Festival 2025 in Seoul, South Korea, Samsung received a presidential award for its 24Gb GDDR7 chip with 40Gbps speed that is currently undergoing early testing.
Similar to its 28Gbps GDDR7 memory offering, this faster GDDR7 memory is expected to see use in graphics card components and AI processing chips and for data centers in the future.
However, since it is currently still in the testing phase, mass production is only expected to be seen around mid-to-late next year once the testing phase is over, and demand for it begins.
Demand for GDDR7 memory is also expected to increase in the near future, with companies making graphics processing and AI components generally requiring fast memory for more efficient processing capabilities. Companies such as SK Hynix are also expected to begin introducing GDDR7 memory with faster data transfer speeds in the future.
