Samsung Reportedly Developing Its Own GPU for Exynos 2800

Samsung has reportedly successfully developed its own GPU that will be used in the Exynos 2800 chip for the Galaxy S28 series. Previously, Samsung collaborated with AMD on Exynos chips equipped with GPUs based on RDNA technology. The recently announced Exynos 2600 chip still uses the Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD technology.

With the ability to build its own GPU, it opens up space for Samsung to control the capabilities of their mobile chips in the future, as Apple and Qualcomm are able to do.

This news comes a few days after John Rayfield confirmed that he was joining Samsung. He previously served as vice president at Intel and AMD, especially in chip development. With his hiring, Samsung is expected to continue to develop Exynos chips so that they can compete with chips produced by other companies.
