U Mobile announced that they are the first telco in Malaysia to offer full-scale fraud protection across its entire network. It has been fully operational since February 2025, with the initiative being carried out in partnership with Cellusys, a provider of signaling, roaming and analytics security solutions.
As of December 2025, U Mobile has blocked over 265 million fraudulent calls and SMSs nationwide across 5G and 4G networks. These threats are stopped before they reach customers.
Using Cellusys’ Unified Signaling, SMS and Voice Firewall solution, U Mobile is able to block fraud attempts at the network level. This means that, unlike generic filtering systems, all incoming calls and SMSs are screened through this solution first and if deemed suspicious, are blocked before they reach the customer’s device.
This solution has protected U Mobile customers from fraudulent calls impersonating authorities and institutions, SMS phishing attacks (smishing), fake or manipulated caller identities, and large-scale criminal campaigns targeting Malaysian consumers.
According to the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, 73% of Malaysians have reported experiencing fraudulent calls and SMS, which is among the highest in the Southeast Asia region.
