Last week, we reported that ASUS may be entering the memory manufacturing industry to produce its own memory components to better control the price of its devices.
However, ASUS was recently interviewed by Taiwanese media outlet CNA and confirmed that this is not true. ASUS said that they have no plans to produce their own memory, and said that they will continue to work with existing memory makers to meet their memory supply next year.
According to the report, it was also reported that while it is true that ASUS has started producing its own memory chips, it will take at least two years before ASUS can get the results of opening its own memory factory, and that too if they have the expertise to design their own memory chips.
It seems that consumers will still have to deal with the issue of insufficient memory supply for smart devices and computers in 2026. It is also possible that this memory supply issue will persist for several years, with all major memory manufacturers now focusing on producing HBM memory over DDR memory.
