America Wants to Send Starlink to Iran to Restore Internet Services

Massive protests in Iran have been ongoing since late December last year and have now spread to almost the entire country. The deteriorating economic factor has led to demonstrations demanding that the government led by Ali Hosseini Khamenei be replaced with the Shah Pahlavi family. To control the spread of the protests, the Iranian government has shut down internet and telephone services throughout the country since last week.

Today, President Trump was quoted by Reuters as saying that he would contact Elon Musk to send Starlink satellite internet terminal kits to Iran to restore the disrupted internet services. With this, information from Iran can be taken out. Since the protests began, 500-2000 deaths have been reported after the authorities cracked down on demonstrators.

If the Starlink kits are sent to Iran, it will be the second time that they have been used in a conflict zone. In the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian soldiers and citizens in the border areas were given Starlinks to communicate with foreign countries and control weapons. But at the same time, Russian kamikaze drones and Colombian drug smuggling boats have also been found to use Starlink Mini kits
