Apple has expanded support for the Apple Watch's high blood pressure detection feature to 7 new countries, namely Malaysia, Australia, Colombia, Indonesia, South Korea, Brazil and Turkey. The feature, which detects patterns of high blood pressure using Apple Watch sensors and algorithms, was first launched in September last year.
Through health data tracked by Apple Watch, patterns of high blood pressure will be detected within 30 days. Users will then receive an alert to seek medical advice as the next step.
Apple emphasizes that high blood pressure is the leading risk factor for heart attack, stroke and kidney disease. Users in Malaysia can activate this feature via the Health app. However, this feature is only supported on Apple Watch Series 9 and above and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and above.
